Mark was born in Hamlin, New York in August of 1972. In 1981 his family left New York and moved to Baytown, Texas where they attended Redeemer Lutheran Church. He was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in May of 1985, and when confirmed, Pastor Wayne Schardt suggested that Mark consider becoming a pastor.
While in high school Pastor Mark began to feel a tug toward ministry. Soon after graduating he left Texarkana to attend Concordia university in Austin and begin Pre-Seminary studies. While at Concordia University, he met and fell in love with a beautiful woman named Catherine and in June of 1994 they were married. In May of 1996 Mark and Catherine graduated from Concordia and left for Saint Louis where Mark would attend Concordia Seminary. He completed his seminary studies and was awarded Masters of Divinity degree in May 2000.
Pastor Mark’s first call was to Hope Lutheran Church in Friendswood, TX. He served there as the Associate Pastor for 5 1/2 years before being called to be our pastor.
Pastor Mark and Catherine have 2 little boys who are the joy of their lives. Pastor Mark enjoys playing with his boys, music, reading, mountain biking, and making model yachts.
Pastor Mark has a passion for helping people discover their individual spiritual gifts and assisting them in using those gifts for the Kingdom. He believes that each of us are called, gathered, and equipped by the Holy Spirit for His glory, and that when we use our gifts to bring glory to God the church becomes a body that reaches out with the hands and feet of Jesus Christ.
His personal mission statement is “Connecting people to their calling.”
